RC2039 AVRO LANCASTER Plan

It really shouldn't come as any surprise that this version of the 72 in"-span electric version of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster, which was launched a few years ago, has been one of RCM&E's most successful plans.
I suspect that three things have contributed to its success. Firstly, it's a Lancaster- an iconic and very British aeroplane that captures the hearts and imagination of both the old and the young.

Secondly,it's 72" wingspan means that it's a comfortable size for most club flyers- and just as importantly,it's a convenient size for their cars.

Finally, it's designed around a cheap and simple electric power set-up which- together with the CNC-cut wood pack, and vac-formed canopies, domes, blisters and turrets.Makes it an attractive entry route for the modeler tackling multi-engine aeroplanes for the first-time. A joy to fly this realy is the plane to build.

The Lancaster is one of the best selling plans of the RCM&E
collection and is a real builders models. This is the latest version
of the plan with the improved more scale like outline and 2 piece
wing. The plan features fully built up construction using balsa
and plywood. The fuselage is a simple slab sided structure with
a rolled balsa top and a cross-sheeted underside. The wings are
a built-up structure of ribs over a main spar and balsa sheeted.
The tailplane is built up in a similar fashion to the wings. Originally
designed for four 400-6V geared motors and 16-cells but we now
recomend a brushless setup with Lithiun Polymer batteries for the
best fl ight performance and duration. The model is designed for
retractable undercarriage.
