SETRC2077 Spitfire Mk.5 Complete Set

What you see here is another scaled-up version of the very successful 45” (1143mm) wingspan Spitfire that appeared in the October 2006 RCM&E Special.

The April / May 2007 editions of RCM&E featured a 62” (1575mm) span version and here we are again with an even larger offering, at 72” (1829mm) span. You may well be asking why I’ve gone to the trouble of designing yet another? Spitfire overload, surely? Well, it appears that as far as the Spit’s concerned, you just can’t please everybody.

The 45” version filled a niche and appealed to modellers who wanted a small, fully rigged bung in the boot job to satisfy a 15-minute fix, whilst the 62” version was built by Sunday flyers who wanted a four-stroke motor and retracts for added authenticity. However, if you ask everyone else their opinion as to the ideal size for a Spitfire, it would appear that 70” plus with up to a 1.20 engine is favourite.
Indeed 1.20 engines are now becoming more commonplace, whilst the .25 - once the mainstay of engine sales - is becoming a comparatively rare sight.

Set includes: Plan, CNC woodpack, additional woodpack & Vac form canopy and cowl.

Please note complete sets DO NOT include engines, accessories, paints or glues.
